A line from her “All Mixed Up” mixtape, Mz Erica tha Divva has decided to take on the world and change the concept of what a lady is supposed to be. In a society where women are regarded as sex objects; displayed in music videos as scantily clad rump shaking decorations, encouraged to use plastic surgery to “enhance” every body part from breasts to cheeks, and tricked into lowering standards for fear of being alone Mz Erica, born Erica Harris has made it her life’s mission to help women embrace and assert their God given power. Born and raised in the suburbs of Chicago, IL, she started singing at the age of 12. Her first solo was “His Eye Is On The Sparrow” in a youth program at her church. Since then she has been a part of numerous choirs whether at church or school. Refusing to classify herself in a particular genre, she’s particularly fond of rock music, citing such influences as Evanescence, The Goo Goo dolls, and Staind. Never leaving behind her gospel and r & b roots she’s proven herself to be versatile singer/ songwriter, which gives her the ability to cross over into many different genres without compromising her integrity, who she is, or what she believes in. She has many projects in the works currently, including the launch of her website, her debut album, and her autobiography entitled Divva Chronicles which she believes will open up the eyes of Christians and non-Christians alike to the realities of religious fallacies. Striving to be a wonder woman of sorts, she’s also a student pursuing her Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, a Youth Ablaze leader and member of the praise team at Prevailing Word Christian Center.
