ABOUT "LIGHTNING GUSTO"....
Hi there, I'm Alf, a norwegian singer, songwriter, musician and producer in my best 40's and this, LIGHTNING GUSTO, is my new baby and solo-project. I've been in a bunch of rock bands since the mid 80's, done lots of touring, recording, album releases and crazy stuff up until this very day. Recently with The Maudlin Hounds, a hard rock powertrio from Tromsø, Norway. With The Hounds, I sang and played guitar on three albums, went on tours, nationwide as well as abroad. All this is just a tiny part of my story but I thought you'd like to know anyway. NOW, let's move on to LIGHTNING GUSTO and my new project.
I'm really into guitar driven rock, hard rock and metal but I've always wanted to dig deeper into the powerpop domain because I absolutely love that genre. I'm a huge fan of 60's pop music, the 70's pop/rock scene and the 90's powerpop bands. Clever and spicy melodies always gives me the goosebumps and the positivity of smart and catchy powerpop tune is an otherworldly experience listening to. The list of artists and bands who has inspired me seems endless and I would probably need months to cover them all. Like I said, I love hard rock and metal music but LIGHTNING GUSTO is all about powerpop and pop music that rocks. It doesn't need to be perfect but it has to be fun and that's what powerpop is and should be all about. Like the great audio pioneer and record producer Joe Meek once stated; if it sounds right, it is right. I like that philosophy. ...
